Meet our Product Owner, Janet!

With a passion for EdTech and a deep belief in technology's effect on learning outcomes, she brings energy, empathy, and experience to the Booost Education team. From her home in scenic North Yorkshire, she's helping shape tools that genuinely make a difference to students. Read on to discover what drew her to Booost and why she loves a kitchen disco…

What drew you to Booost?

After some career detours, I had no doubt that I wanted to get back to a Product team in an EdTech company. When I saw the role advertised at Booost, it checked all the boxes. The more I read about how Booost help students on their DSA journey, the more I wanted the job. I threw everything I could at getting it and am very grateful that it all fell into place. It's only been 4-5 months and both company and role have exceeded all expectations. I love being part of the team here – everyone shares the same goals and looks out for each other.

When did you know you wanted to work in your field?

I joined a leading supplier of IT to schools as a graduate Product Manager and was hooked straight away – good luck rather than good planning at the time! I love the dynamic of working in product teams; you get to talk to learners and teachers about their challenges, then work with technical teams to implement solutions that make their lives better. I was fortunate enough to manage products that led the adoption of key new technologies across the education market. During that time, I saw firsthand the impact that great resources can have on learning outcomes. What's not to love?!

Where are you located?

I live in a market town in North Yorkshire on the edge of the dales (think James Herriot country). We're only an hour from the Lake District and about an hour from the coast, so it's not at all bad! There aren't many jobs like mine around here – so I'm very lucky to have found a company that offers remote working.

What does your perfect weekend look like?

A cottage with sea views, to wake up and enjoy the sea with the first coffee of the day. After a walk along the coast there's nothing better than friends and family cooking together, playing a board game, maybe a kitchen disco, and all rounded off with a glass of fizz in the hot tub looking at the stars.

Best trip you've been on and why?

It's so tricky to pick just one! But if I must, it would be a family holiday to Madeira. It was the perfect combination of rest, exploration, and adventure – from whale & dolphin spotting, spending my birthday hurtling down a city road on a wooden sledge, and canyoning, to lazing in natural volcanic swimming pools and drinking cocktails by the pool. Definitely one to remember.
