Group 1: Neurodivergent conditions

This group covers: ADHD, Autistic Spectrum Condition, Dyslexia, Dyspraxia.

For students in this group, the barriers to effective time and task management are neurological in origin. Planning, prioritisation, task initiation, working memory, and self-regulation are all functions that neurodivergent conditions directly impair. These are not general study challenges. They are disability-related barriers that affect the student's ability to manage academic workload at a fundamental level.

Free tools such as Google Calendar and Microsoft To Do require the student to self-configure, self-prioritise, and self-schedule. For students whose disability specifically impairs these functions, an unscaffolded tool does not meet their need. Booost provides integrated, adaptive support that free tools do not offer.

Group 2: Fluctuating and energy-limiting conditions

This group covers: Chronic Fatigue Syndrome / ME, Crohn's Disease, Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome, Epilepsy, Irritable Bowel Syndrome

For students in this group, the barriers to effective time and task management arise from conditions that are unpredictable in their impact. Symptoms fluctuate day to day, and sometimes hour to hour. Fatigue, pain, cognitive impairment, and the need for rest and recovery mean that students’ available capacity for academic work is variable and often significantly reduced compared to a student without the condition.

Free tools such as Google Calendar and Microsoft To Do are static scheduling tools. They do not adapt to fluctuating capacity, do not support flexible rescheduling around symptoms, and do not reduce the cognitive load of replanning when a student is unwell. For students in this group, using an unscaffolded tool imposes exactly the kind of planning and decision-making demand that their condition makes most difficult. Booost addresses this directly.

Cognitive disruption, emotional dysregulation, and the unpredictable impact of symptoms on capacity all directly affect the student's ability to plan and manage their workload.

Free tools such as Google Calendar and Microsoft To Do require the student to self-motivate, self-direct, and self-manage their time. For students whose condition specifically impairs motivation, initiation, and self-regulation, an unscaffolded tool does not meet their need. Booost provides the structure and adaptive support that free tools do not offer.
